The Brothers Karamazov

Altered book with digitally printed text on newsprint, words, and thread, casebound into reused bookcloth cover. 2007. 8.25” x 5.5” x 1.75”

Based on my attempt to read The Brothers Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky in high school (with little comprehension or forward momentum), this remade version of the book visually relates the experience to the viewer. With words falling off the pages little by little until the pages are blank, other texts begin invading, resulting in a tangled ball of words. The book becomes a metaphor for the journey of a reader's confused mind.
