Abridge
2008, ink and pencil on vellum palimpsests, bound with quilting thread into Webster's Collegiate Dictionary

Language is anything but static. Abridge is an altered dictionary into which obsolete words have been reinserted but hang precariously by threads. The vellum on which they are written is made to look like palimpsests, which in the infancy of books, were pages from books which had the ink scraped off in order to be reused for a new book. This formed parallel between the "scraping off" of information in the form of deleting it from dictionaries.
